   Monkhill Chapel newsletter 29th May 2021    29 May, 2021
Hello All,
Hope you are well and looking forward to a great Bank Holiday weekend with, hopefully, warm and sunny weather for a change.
Sorry that some of you were unable to make our Church meeting last Thursday where the conversation was around the re-opening of Chapel.
All being well, weekly services will resume on Sunday 4 July at 10.30am (Preacher: David Newlove) and Lunch with Us on Thursday 29 July, from 12 noon for 12.30pm start.
I will be sending out the notes of the meeting. The date of our Autumn Church Council meeting is Wednesday  20 October at 2.00pm in the school-room. Put this in your diary now as we may well have more decisions to make by then and it's good to have contributions from everyone if possible.
I have received a letter from Joan Crellin who joined us at our services and for coffee afterwards at The Drovers before we closed again for the 2nd lockdown. She will be worshipping at Wigton Road again
when they re-open tomorrow but she enjoyed being with us and will come to services at Monkhill when she can and hopefully join us for Lunch with Us.

Please remember there is a service at Solway Chapel, Port Carlisle tomorrow afternoon at 2.30pm. Glynis and I will be going and if anyone else would like to go/have a lift, please get in touch with me asap.
Last Sunday was Pentecost Sunday and I have gathered together a few snippets from the services I listened to, which I thought were all such lovely words.

God's Holy Spirit ; The Comforter and help to others -
The Wind of the Spirit is blowing in our world today -
The presence of the Spirit in us makes us Christians, guiding, equipping and empowering us -

The following hymn was sung/listened to at the NCMC service last Sunday. If you missed the service, you can catch up with it anytime or listen to the hymn on YouTube. The tune is wonderful and the words are
so appropriate. Like many hymns, it can be sung or read aloud or read quietly to ourselves as a prayer:-

Holy Spirit, living Breath of God,
Breathe new life into my willing soul.
Bring the presence of the risen Lord
To renew my heart and make me whole.
Cause Your Word to come alive in me;
Give me faith for what I cannot see;
Give me passion for Your purity.
Holy Spirit, breathe new life in me.

Holy Spirit, come abide within;
May Your joy be seen in all I do—
Love enough to cover every sin
In each thought and deed and attitude,
Kindness to the greatest and the least,
Gentleness that sows the path of peace.
Turn my striving into works of grace.
Breath of God, show Christ in all I do.

Holy Spirit, from creation's birth,
Giving life to all that God has made,
Show Your power once again on earth;
Cause Your church to hunger for Your ways.
Let the fragrance of our prayers arise.
Lead us on the road of sacrifice
That in unity the face of Christ
Will be clear for all the world to see.
