Good evening everyone,
Hope you are all keeping well and looking forward to the Bank Holiday weekend, although typically the weather is forecast to go downhill but we have had a good spell of fine weather and now need rain (preferably in short bursts and through the night!)

Did you listen to Radio Cumbria Breakfast Service with Richard Corrie last Sunday? It concentrated on Welsh Hymns and Tunes. Strangely enough, the day before I had been speaking to Jackie (nee Bumphrey) and her husband Terry in Kirkandrews. They were here for the week from South Wales and it's a long time since I last saw them. We were discussing pronunciations and I commented how I would love to be able to speak a little Welsh as I love to hear hymn singing in Welsh. During the broadcast, Thought for the Week was given by Revd Ann Huffton (not sure of the spelling) from South of the County. She spoke of the many freedoms we are now re-experiencing but emphasised that true freedom is not freedom provided by the Government on the journey out of lockdown but freedom provided by the Lord's unconditional love for us. This was followed by the music "Jerusalama" which I find so calming and inspiring. Richard Corrie is featuring this music during Thought for the Week most Sundays at the moment so try to listen to it if you haven't heard it before. It's also on YouTube.

Christian Aid Week starts on the 10th May to the 16th May. The good news is that you can make your donation online now by using this link https://giving.tapsimple.org/…/christian-aid-week-2021-36492  House to House collections or fund raising events are not possible at the moment but the work of Christian Aid is needed by the world's poorest people more than ever so your donation is very much needed. If you are unable to donate on-line or prefer to donate through the Christian Aid Envelope scheme, I have a supply of envelopes and will also leave some with Kathleen. Let me know if you can collect an envelope or if you want me to drop one off for you. Please return it asap as envelopes have to be passed on to a central point. Many thanks in anticipation of your donation to this worthwhile cause.

God Bless and stay safe and well,

Lynne
