   Kirkandrews one Eden W I notice    7 February, 2021

A year has passed since the first cases of Covid19 in this country and what a year! But there is a light at the end of the tunnel and several of our members and friends have received their first dose of the vaccine.

Although we have not been able to meet we are able to keep in touch. One of our community projects has been to display favourite poems (or parts of) in the local villages of Kirkandrews, Beaumont, Grinsdale, Monkhill and Hosket Hill. If you are out walking please do look out for them. Other poems which are too long to be displayed have been shared using email. There is room for more if you have any favourites.

The Cumbria Way is 83 miles long and there is a challenge in Cumbria to knit scarves to stretch the length of the Way. The scarves can be knitted or crocheted so the knitting needles of our members are clacking away. Finished scarves will be donated to homeless charities in the county.

There is a demand for personal items such as soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste and face cloths for patients in the Cumberland Infirmary who live too far away for relatives to bring them these things. Please look around the house and let our President know if you can help. Collection can be arranged.

Although the weather is miserable the days are getting longer and Spring is coming. We will be able to meet again and so until then please take care and stay safe.
